So...I have been keeping cornsnakes for several years, and have spent several more researching them prior to my acquisitions. I have found 3 books that are absolutely priceless for anyone interested in keeping and/or breeding cornsnakes.

This book makes even the most complex genetic mutations seem simple and easy. It is exactly what the title claims...a completely comprehensive owner's "manual" for cornsnakes. Everything from selecting a snake and proper care, to treatments for the most common medical ailments and breeding.

A fantastic companion to the Comprehensive Owner's Guide, "Cornsnakes in Captivity" provides a different perspective on the general care and breeding of cornsnakes. Very similar in technique, but extremely complimentary. These two books combined can get even the newest of new keepers "up to par" on the latest and safest methods of cornsnake husbandry and keeping.

This is an incredibly useful book that gives a basic genetics tutorial, and explains the latest combinations and recessive genes that are coming out into the market place. If you have ever found yourself wondering what some of the genetic terms meant, or how, exactly, someone "made" a morph, this book will clear it up for you. A new edition comes out every year to include all of the newest, cutting edge genes and combinations begin discovered and worked with.
A good companion to the Cornsnake guide is "Genetics for Herpers", also written by Charles Pritzel, which expands on the cornsnake genetics ideas and incorporates a much more comprehensive explanation of genetics and how they are applied to our cold blooded companions.
If you get a cornsnake...get these books. The first three are what I like to call "The Holy Trinity" of cornsnake books. Everything you need to know can be learned from those three books. And if you combine the fourth book, "Genetics for Herpers", you can sound like a pro in no time at all. These books do an excellent job of making everything that is complicated about cornsnakes and genetics seem absolutely simple.
